The LARRGE Project
Corporate Social Responsibility, Decent Work and Human Rights
Full employment, fair working conditions and social justice are challenges that have to be met, independently of the current economic situation. The obstacles now faced by everyday business are demanding and might evoke the feeling that these objectives are not directly linked to success. Yet, in many respects companies can benefit from a socially responsible way to do business.
Recalling that an entrepreneur's responsibility to make decent work possible in everyday business has become an imperative, international labour and social standards as well as human rights were established to channel and foster responsible business conduct. They deliver the framework for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) tools, designed to meet these challenges even in changing circumstances.
The LARRGE project aims at providing guidance for companies that are looking for a way to anchor human rights and core labour standards in their business practice. This will be achieved by means of an impact analysis of CSR tools based upon three interrelated, mutually supportive concepts: CSR, human rights and decent work. The project outcome will consist of a comprehensive guide on international and European CSR tools, which will outline the main tool features and practical experiences of companies and other stakeholders in applying it.
Thus, the project consortium takes up and pushes on with the European Union's core aims, set out in its decision to promote Decent Work for all (2006).
