The LARRGE Project

Implementation

General Information

The LARRGE project spans 16 months starting from January 2009. It is divided into 4 Work Packages, with the workload being shared among the project partners.

Consortium

The Consortium is composed of three implementing partners: the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights (BIM), the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) and the Centre for the Study of Global Ethics from the University of Birmingham (UoB). In addition, the consortium involves three supporting partners as experts in stakeholder communications and conferences, namely the Austrian Chamber of Labour (AK), the Network Social Responsibility (NeSoVe) and HumanRightsConsulting Vienna (HRCV).

The responsibilities for particular project results lie with different partners in the team; however, all actions are carried out jointly. The BIM co-ordinates the consortium activities throughout the project implementation phase. Moreover, the website development, analysis of CSR tools, and subsequent elaboration of the LARRGE Guide are the responsiblity of the BIM. As one of the leading institutions with profound consulting, research, and particular CSR tool developing experience, the DIHR is largely responsible for the stakeholder survey. A long standing key expert from the UoB takes the lead for the framework for analysis of CSR tools, as well as for interviews with selected experts, both, in the course of the LARRGE working conference and with a view to best practice case studies.

Work Packages

Work Package 1 began with an initial meeting on 16th February 2009 in Vienna. Following this meeting, the partners continued with basic research on CSR tools, the elaboration of a framework for analysis of these tools, and questionnaires for a web-based stakeholder survey. The survey target groups were also identified. The responses from companies and external stakeholders are to be evaluated after the accomplishment of the survey in Work Package 2.

The second Work Package consists of the organisation and preparation of a two-day working conference, bringing together practitioners, CSR tool developing institutions, businesses and scholars, which will be held on 1st and 2nd of September 2009 in Vienna. Interviews with selected experts participating in the conference will contribute to the research on the practical dimension of CSR tool development and application. At the same time, a comprehensive online survey will be conducted, addressing businesses on the one, and company external stakeholders on the other hand.

In Work Package 3 the research findings will be compiled in a draft consolidated version of the LARRGE Guide, published on this website and opened up to an online consultation process for any interested stakeholder groups.

The final Work Package is dedicated to completing the LARRGE Guide by incorporating feedback received in the course of the stakeholder consultation. The results will be published in a user-friendly, interactive version of the LARRGE Guide on the website, supplemented with print publications in English and French. A final project conference in April 2010 will serve to introduce the LARRGE Guide to the wider public, and raise awareness among the European business community and policy makers both on the national and European level.
